Women DRONERESPONDERS to hold second official meeting

The Women DRONERESPONDERS (WDR) Sub-Alliance will host its second official meeting on March 11, 2025, during the National Public Safety UAS Conference in Williamsburg, Virginia.

The event will take place at the Festhaus in Busch Gardens and is expected to bring together female leaders, operators, and advocates from public safety drone operations.

According to DRONERESPONDERS, the meeting aims to provide opportunities for networking, mentorship, and collaboration among women in the field.

The initiative is designed to ensure women in public safety drone roles have the tools and resources necessary to succeed.

Leadership and mentorship in focus at the WDR meeting

Charles Werner, director of DRONERESPONDERS and founder of the WDR initiative, highlighted the importance of the event: “The WDR initiative provides a platform for mentorship, collaboration, and empowerment, ensuring women have the tools and resources needed to excel in UAS roles.”

The WDR steering committee includes several prominent figures, such as Paige Fitzgerald, deputy director of Delaware Emergency Management Agency, and Katie Thielmeyer, risk reduction officer and UAS program manager for Woodlawn Fire Department in the Cincinnati area.

Other key members include Amy Wiegand, DR board member and founder of Earhart Alden & Associates, and Chuck Moran, founder of Online Video Mastery.

The meeting will also discuss leadership opportunities and encourage participation in the WDR initiative as part of DRONERESPONDERS’ broader mission to advance lifesaving drone technology.
