In a Lunar New Year celebration, two County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Asian Pacific Islander Association (API) board members were recognized by the West Hollywood City Council on Monday, February 3, 2025.
West Hollywood City Council member Danny Hang, alongside fellow council members, recognized the leadership of LACoFD Deputy Fire Chief Al Yanagisawa and Acting Assistant Fire Chief Koi Dao with a proclamation.
The recognition honored the dedication of all LACoFD API members who battled the Eaton and Palisades wildfires in January 2025.
Both Chiefs spoke with pride about the efforts of their teams, recognizing the sacrifices made and the courage displayed in the pursuit of safeguarding lives and property during the wildfires.
This recognition comes during the festive season of the Lunar New Year, a time of reflection, community, and appreciation, making the recognition even more meaningful for both the City of West Hollywood and LACoFD personnel.
West Hollywood continues to stand in solidarity with residents and communities as they begin to recover and rebuild, along with the first responders who serve and protect.
The City Council’s tribute not only acknowledged the remarkable work of the LACoFD, but also highlighted the importance of recognizing the contributions of individuals from various backgrounds.
