As reported by Verizon Frontline, the company is committed to maintaining network connectivity for communities, businesses, and first responders in the affected areas, specifically in Ventura County and Malibu.

Wildfires across California have intensified in both frequency and severity, leading Verizon to implement various technologies and strategies to support uninterrupted connectivity for its customers and emergency teams.

Steven Keller, Pacific Market President at Verizon, expressed Verizon’s focus during the crisis: “Our hearts go out to those impacted by the Mountain and Broad Fires.

“These wildfires have the power to disrupt and devastate communities, and our focus is on ensuring our network stands strong to support first responders and keep Ventura County and Malibu connected and safe.”

Backup power and mobile assets deployed across impacted areas

Verizon reports that its cell sites across Ventura County and Malibu remain fully operational, with additional backup power solutions and redundancy measures in place to support reliable connectivity.

These measures are part of the company’s readiness strategy to support continuous service, especially in areas where wildfires have affected power and infrastructure stability.

Verizon has prepared over 550 mobile assets, including drone and aerial support technologies, for deployment in affected zones to maintain essential communication links for residents and emergency response teams.

In addition to these assets, Verizon has expanded its reliance on nearly 300 satellite-based systems that serve as backup communication channels.

This satellite infrastructure allows for uninterrupted communication even when traditional network components are compromised by natural disasters or severe conditions, enhancing the resilience of Verizon’s network in wildfire-prone regions.

Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team supports firefighting operations

The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team has been actively supporting first responders working to control and contain fires in California and other states.

As per Verizon’s latest data, the Crisis Response Team has delivered nearly 2,000 Verizon Frontline communication solutions to fire camps across 14 states.

These services have aided federal, state, and local public safety agencies by providing critical voice and data support as firefighters work to control nearly 100 named wildfires.

In California, the Crisis Response Team’s efforts have included the provision of over 700 communication solutions to first responders representing approximately 20 agencies.

This year’s wildfire season alone has generated over 230 service requests for mission-critical communication solutions from more than 60 agencies, highlighting the extensive need for reliable network support during these incidents.

Nationwide support from Verizon’s emergency response division

Verizon Frontline’s Crisis Response Team operates on a 24/7 basis, offering on-demand emergency support across the United States.

According to Verizon, the team has handled over 1,300 requests for emergency communication support from almost 800 agencies in 46 states throughout 2024.

This includes setting up portable cell sites, Wi-Fi hotspots, charging stations, and other Verizon Frontline devices to enhance network performance and connectivity in crisis zones.

Verizon Frontline services are offered at no cost to supported agencies, helping ensure that government agencies and emergency responders have the connectivity needed during critical situations.

The team’s role has been to assist with communication setups that are essential for coordinating public safety efforts effectively amid challenging circumstances such as wildfires.
