Throughout 2024, public safety agencies across the United States faced severe challenges, responding to natural disasters such as wildfires, hurricanes, and tornadoes.
According to Verizon Frontline, its Crisis Response Team played a critical role in supporting these agencies during their emergency operations.
The team, composed of former public safety and military personnel, provided communication solutions at no cost to the agencies.
This support included more than 1,500 individual responses, enabling communications for over 800 federal, state, and local agencies in nearly every U.S. state and Washington, D.C.
The Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team assisted during wildfire mitigation efforts by deploying nearly 2,000 communication solutions.
Requests for support came from wildland firefighting agencies across states such as New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington.
These efforts included devices and technologies such as repeaters, routers, and deployable satellite systems to maintain reliable communications in challenging conditions.
During the hurricane season, the team provided aid to agencies in response to three major hurricanes—Helene, Milton, and Beryl.
For Hurricane Helene alone, the team delivered over 600 communication solutions to more than 115 agencies in states including Florida and Georgia.
Additionally, over 30 tornado-related emergency responses resulted in 300 devices being distributed to agencies across 10 states.
Verizon Frontline also supported public safety during ransomware incidents, training exercises, major public events, and political conventions.
Furthermore, Verizon announced a partnership with NOAA to develop strategies for using uncrewed aircraft systems to collect imagery after severe weather events.
The year also marked the debut of two new deployable assets designed to enhance emergency communications capabilities.
Verizon Frontline provided extensive communications support to public safety agencies during 2024, deploying over 10,000 solutions.
This included aiding wildfire, hurricane, and tornado response efforts across the U.S. while also supporting agencies during training exercises and major public events.
The team’s work reflects its commitment to assisting first responders by ensuring they have reliable communications during emergencies.
