Vector Solutions announced a collaboration with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) to host a virtual training program for first responders.
As reported by the NFPA, this initiative aims to enhance firefighter competency in handling emerging distributed energy technologies and lithium-ion battery fires.
Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, the NFPA Fire Incident Response Simulated Training (FIRST) Application provides a game-like simulated training experience.
It allows firefighters to engage in realistic virtual scenarios, such as fighting electric vehicle and energy storage fires.
The application is based on real-world test data and features interactive, multi-user simulations that mirror actual incidents, improving response times and effectiveness.
The FIRST application addresses renewable technology hazards by offering an immersive training program.
Andrew Klock, NFPA Senior Manager of Education and Development, stated: “Since the inception of NFPA’s electric vehicle and hybrid fire safety training courses 14 years ago, we’ve seen about 350,000 firefighters benefit from these in-depth lessons.”
Klock emphasized the goal of meeting the needs of digital learners by leveraging Vector Solutions’ responder platforms.
This collaboration aims to reach millions of first responders who may encounter these types of fires in their communities, enhancing their readiness and public safety.
Vector Solutions has a history of serving state, county, and municipal governmental entities since 1999, focusing on the Fire and EMS market.
The company partnered with NFPA to distribute essential training through the TargetSolutions Training Management System.
This collaboration aims to address the evolving needs of firefighters through innovative training solutions.
Josh Grossman, General Manager of the Public Sector at Vector Solutions, remarked: “We are honored to support NFPA in providing their cutting-edge training to firefighters across the country.”
He highlighted the united commitment to ensuring first responders are prepared and protected as they face emergencies.
In addition to providing training, Vector Solutions supports this initiative with a pre-built TargetSolutions custom Activity.
This feature in their training management system allows fire departments to track and report on personnel’s training progress.
It ensures that firefighters receive deserved credit for their participation in the simulation, aiding in comprehensive training management.
