The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) held the graduation ceremony for the second round of the Urban Firefighting Instructor Extension Course on 1 July. In total, 12 military firefighters completed the training, becoming qualified to act as instructors in theoretical and practical urban firefighting training.
The course’s main objective is to prepare military personnel to provide specialized instruction, disseminating technical and operational knowledge focused on combating structural fires. Furthermore, the graduates were qualified to operate container-type fire simulators, equipment that reproduces, in a controlled and safe manner, real-life situations faced by fire crews during incidents.
Upon completion of their training, the new instructors will join the team responsible for activities carried out at Cidade do Fogo (City of Fire), a benchmark in operational training for the CBMERJ. The facility is used for the training of new military firefighters as well as for the continuous improvement of the on-duty personnel, providing exercises that replicate highly complex scenarios requiring significant technical expertise.
During the course, the military personnel deepened their knowledge of firefighting techniques, fire behavior, risk management, and situational analysis of disaster environments. The training aims to develop professionals capable of transmitting knowledge with excellence, contributing to the standardization of procedures and the strengthening of the Corporation’s operational doctrine.
The expansion of the pool of specialized instructors symbolizes an important advance for the CBMERJ training system. With more qualified professionals, the Corporation strengthens its capacity to train firefighters who are increasingly prepared to act in urban fire incidents, raising the safety and efficiency standards of operations.
