Unaí firefighters hold forest firefighting training

The Unaí Fire Department in Minais Gerais, Brazil, held a training session focused on improving forest firefighting techniques and pre-hospital care (APH).

Taking place between 1-3 July 2025, the initiative aimed to strengthen the corportation’s performance in emergency situations, especially during the period of greatest risk of fires.

The training was conducted by military personnel from the 2nd Company of Unaí of the Minas Gerais Military Fire Department (CBMMG): 1st Sergeant Higor Gonçalves Mourão and Corporal Rodrigo Satoshi Tanaka.

Features of the training

Temporary firefighters were hired, those who were oversubscribed from the selection process and members of the Conservation Unit team participated in the training.

At the end of the course, the it was reported that the objective was fully achieved; to train firefighters capable of preventing and fighting forest fires in the buffer and reserve areas of Sagarana State Park.

This training is necessary to protecting the park’s biodiversity and ensuring a quick and effective response in the event of a fire.
