Troy Vorderstrasse has been voted by The Hastings City Council as the new Fire Chief, after serving as Interim Chief since October 2024 and Acting Chief from August 2024.
Vorderstrasse takes over after former Fire Chief Brad Starling who announced his resignation in September 2024.
Troy Vorderstrasse said of his appointment that for: “30 years Hastings Fire & Rescue has been a big part of my life.
“I am just really grateful to serve the citizens of Hastings as their next Fire Chief.“
Vorderstrasse also shared what he believes makes the team work well together: “We’ve got a lot of youthful, energic, excited firefighters who want to serve the community.
“Along with that we’ve got some really good leadership team and they’re going to do everything they can to help build our younger people to become the next leaders of Hastings Fire and Rescue.“
