The Last Word with Siderise

Brad Davis, Head of Commercial- North America at Siderise Insulation, talks compliance, performance and addressing growing challenges

Can you give us a brief introduction to Siderise and its place in the fire and safety industry?

Siderise Insulation is a leading manufacturer of high-performance passive fire protection solutions for the building envelope, including unique, comprehensively tested stone wool Lamella cavity barriers and firestops engineered to control the spread of fire.

We have global operations spanning the UK, Europe, the Middle East, India, Asia Pacific and now the US.

How does Siderise ensure global compliance and performance for its passive fire protection systems?

Our decades of technical experience are put to full use through our in-house testing and innovation center in Maesteg, South Wales.

Featuring a specialist fire test furnace where we test our products in accordance with global test standards ensuring we provide products that meet the highest levels of performance to meet local requirements.

Siderise is an active participant in a wide variety of global industry committees and associations to ensure we are not only informed of the newest developments, but we are an active participant driving best practices in our field.

The dependable performance of our safety critical products and systems verified by intensive fire testing to national, European and international standards – at a product and system level and as part of large-scale façade constructions – is at the heart of our global reputation.

What are some of the current challenges facing the fire and façade safety sector, and how are you addressing them?

Global supply chains for construction materials are becoming more prevalent year by year, this opens the global market for building developers and contractors to gain access to advanced products not previously available to them, and to benefit from advantageous pricing in various international markets.

This, however, sometimes creates challenges for those same project teams to ensure that the products they source globally comply with local regulations and are suitable for use.

Siderise is committed to working with all our global partners to ensure that all solutions we offer are tested to be compliant with (and even exceed) local regulations.

Another significant challenge in the industry is the infinite number of configurations of building components and the inevitable realization that not every individual configuration can be fully tested leading to the demand for engineering judgements.

While Siderise acknowledges the place in the industry for EJ’s we strive for constant betterment of our product offerings through frequent and rigorous testing of our products to ensure the highest performance.

What are Siderise’s growth and development goals over the next 5 years?

Siderise’s vision is to be the global leader in passive fire protection for building envelopes by using the experience and products that we have stood behind for over 5 decades.

Not only do we intend to be active in new markets, we aim to be present with local support, local supply and local manufacturing.

Furthermore, through education and knowledge sharing, we hope to improve stakeholder responsibilities to ensure safer buildings as we feel that it is our duty to raise the bar by helping stakeholders build their competency.
