The Last Word with De-Wipe

May 8, 2025

Jo Taylor, Director of De-Wipe, talks award-winning innovation and how decontamination solutions are protecting personnel across the fire sector and beyond

What have been some of De-Wipe’s achievements over the past 12 months?

Over the past year, De-Wipe has continued to push the boundaries of decontamination innovation, identifying critical risks faced by workers when equipment is not properly cleaned. In response, we developed and introduced our Equipment Wash, designed to prolong the lifespan of valuable equipment while reducing the risk of cross-contamination. This breakthrough provides a cost-effective solution that enhances safety while maximizing the longevity of our customers’ investments.

2025 has already marked a milestone for De-Wipe. We became the first-ever decontamination solution to win an award at the Inte Intersec Awards in Dubai, securing the Outstanding Safety Solutions Award.

This global recognition highlights the dedication and research that drive our mission—to reduce the risk. Becoming the world’s first award-winning decontamination solution is not just an achievement for De-Wipe, but a testament to the impact our work has on frontline workers across multiple industries.

How do you adapt decontamination products for use in new scenarios or sectors?

As decontamination continues to gain momentum within the Fire and Rescue industry, it remains a prominent and evolving topic of conversation. This ongoing dialogue drives the need for continuous innovation, which is central to De-Wipe’s development.

One key area of growing awareness is the risk of cross-contamination—both in the workplace and at home.

In response, we’ve introduced our Equipment Wash to help minimise this risk, providing another layer of protection for personnel and their families. All of our products are scientifically proven to reduce risk across various industries. Backed by research, they are safe, effective, and reliable for use beyond the Fire and Rescue sector.

Have there been any unexpected learnings from working with fire services across different regions in the Americas?

Expanding into the U.S. market was a valuable learning experience for De-Wipe. With over 65% of U.S. firefighters serving as volunteers, it’s crucial to provide effective protection for those who willingly put their lives on the line to help others.

Transitioning from the UK to the U.S. also allowed De-Wipe to deepen its understanding of wildfires and their impact.

This insight helped shape how De-Wipe’s products can reduce the risk of exposure to harmful PAHs that linger after wildfires. Backed by science, De-Wipe is committed to safeguarding those on the front line.

How is De-Wipe looking to deepen its relationships in the U.S. and Canada?

We have recently appointed a distributor with resellers to cover the USA and sales are steadily increasing. We also have a distributor in Canada who will be showcasing our products at this year’s Fire Chiefs Conference in Ontario.

What can we expect from De-Wipe in the second half of 2025?

De-Wipe has an exciting year ahead as we continue expanding into new industries, while strengthening our valued partnerships within the Fire and Rescue sector.  We’re set to expand our product range this year, ensuring we continue to reduce risk wherever possible and deliver effective solutions for those on the frontline.
