The LACoFD holds tenth annual Women's Fire Prep Academy

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) and the Women’s Fire League tenth annual Women‘s Fire Prep Academy (WFPA) took place on Saturday 4 April 2026.

The event concluded with 66 participants successfully completing the arduous training.

The WFPA commenced on Saturday 28 February 2026, with over 150 participants in attendance.

Training schedule

After the opening-day assessments, which tested candidates on their endurance and stamina, 115 participants moved on to partake in weeks two through six of training.

Through the WFPA, participants had the opportunity to learn the fundamental responsibilities of firefighting and what it takes to join the profession.

Participants engaged in physical fitness activities and intensive training with hands-on tools and equipment, extension ladders, rotary saws and pulling and laying down hose.

The WFPA also instilled in every participant a better sense of leadership, teamwork and situational problem-solving.

Congratulations and a certificate of completion

Speaking at the academy’s conclusion, LACoFD Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone commended the participants for accepting the challenge of joining the WFPA and rising to the occasion.

Each candidate was then presented with a certificate of completion.

The LACoFD extended its heartfelt gratitude to the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Women’s Fire League, instructor cadre, Explorers and alumni for supporting the WFPA participants over the past six Saturdays.
