The National Fire Directorate of Colombia (DNBC) and its Inspection, Surveillance and Control (IVC) team of the Strategic and Fire Coordination Subdirectorate of the DNBC visited the Volunteer Fire Departments of Soracá and Villa de Leyva, in the department of Boyacá.
The visit took place on the 15 and 16 May 2025.
During these sessions, a comprehensive evaluation of the operational, administrative, technical and financial capabilities of both institutions was conducted.
The process included a detailed review of accounting, regulatory, legal, and operational documentation, as well as an inspection of the condition of the physical infrastructure and vehicle fleet of each Fire Department.
The main objective of these visits is to provide support to fire department commanders and units in order to structure improvement plans that strengthen the provision of essential public services provided by fire departments in their territories.
This exercise has been well received by the firefighting community. This was stated by Lieutenant John Eduar Dulcey, Commander of the Villa de Leyva Fire Department.
Dulcey shared: “All the recommendations submitted by the National Fire Department team aim to ensure our continuous improvement.
“Therefore, I invite fire commanders across the country to request these inspection visits, which undoubtedly strengthen us and allow us to grow every day.”
