Telgian Fire Safety will host a webinar titled “NFPA 10 Fire Extinguisher Installation and Maintenance” on May 16, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm ET.
This educational session will be presented by Tom Parrish, a fire protection expert with over 30 years of experience.
Parrish, the Vice President of Compliance & Training at Telgian Fire Safety, is also a retired Fire Marshal for Putnam Township, Michigan.
Parrish’s expertise in the field is backed by his role on several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) technical committees, including those for NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems.
He is currently the President of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) and serves as a senior instructor for the NFPA.
During the webinar, participants will learn about the various types of fires and the appropriate fire extinguishers to use.
Parrish explained: “The NFPA 10: Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers is adopted through the model building codes, making it one of the most widely used fire protection standards.”
The standard provides guidelines for the installation and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers in buildings, vehicles, boats, and campers.
The session will also delve into the components and mounting methods of fire extinguishers, and the placement requirements necessary for effective installation.
Maintenance protocols, such as monthly inspections and annual services, will be discussed.
At the end of the webinar, attendees will have a clear understanding of the types of fire extinguishers suitable for different classes of fires, as well as the technical aspects of mounting and maintaining these safety devices.
The knowledge gained will equip participants with the skills to implement and oversee fire extinguisher systems in various settings effectively.
