Team Wendy has launched RECON Tactical, a configurable bump helmet designed for search and rescue, tactical law enforcement and military training missions.
The Cleveland-based manufacturer developed the system to provide protection against head collisions and falling objects during diverse operations.
Input from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) responders, firefighters and the U.S. Coast Guard influenced the design of the equipment.
The helmet features a low-profile hybrid shell with a carbon fiber crown to increase strength while maintaining a streamlined shape.
It includes a CAM FIT retention system with cam lock sliders to allow one-handed adjustments by the wearer.
The system also utilizes a BOA dial to distribute pressure evenly around the head for stability during long-wear use.
The Team Wendy RECON Tactical helmet meets several international safety benchmarks for impact protection in varied environments.
The equipment complies with EN 12492:2012 for mountaineering, EN 1385:2012 for whitewater use and U.S. ACH AR/PD 14-02 for combat helmets.
It also adheres to NATO AEP 2902- Method H standards to ensure protection across different mission sets.
Standard interfaces for accessories include a machined aluminum NVG shroud, side rails and external loop panels for goggles or lights.
Bryan Javorek, Product Category Manager at Team Wendy, said: “RECON Tactical is the most advanced, highest-performing bump helmet in our portfolio.
“Patent coverage is issued or is pending on several components and systems, which speaks to the engineering behind this helmet and the way it brings protection, stability and utility together.
“A few things keep coming up in the early feedback from rescue professionals and field evaluators: the light feel, small profile and better airflow, all right out of the box.
“And from there, they start noticing the details like the carbon fiber crown, mounting options and the overall thoughtfulness behind it.
“It gives us confidence that the design is resonating the way we hoped it would.”
The helmet is available in red, yellow, black, white and coyote brown with additional options for reflective tape or high-visibility search and rescue kits.
