The annual Spark of Love Holiday Toy Drive, sponsored locally by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and ABC7, will officially launch on November 29, 2024.
The program, now in its 32nd year, aims to provide toys and sporting goods to children in need across Southern California.
As reported by the LAFD, the program relies on community generosity.
Participants can contribute in several ways, including donating new, unwrapped toys or sporting goods at neighborhood fire stations or Subaru dealerships.
Financial contributions are also accepted through text or mail.
A spokesperson for the LAFD highlighted the drive’s impact: “Thanks to your generosity, Spark of Love has assured holiday smiles for 32 years.”
Supporters of the Spark of Love drive have multiple options for contributing.
Donations can be dropped off at participating fire stations and Subaru retailers, ensuring easy access for community members.
Those preferring to donate funds can text “SPARK” to 24365 to receive a secure link for credit card donations.
This method ensures immediate purchase and delivery of high-need items.
For traditional donations, checks made payable to the LAFD Foundation with “SPARK OF LOVE” in the memo line can be mailed to the LAFD Foundation at 1700 Stadium Way, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
The drive receives support from numerous organizations, including the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Jazwares, Amazon, and Toys For Tots.
Additional partners like Mathis Home and the Ontario Auto Center contribute to the drive’s wide reach across the region.
Community media outlets such as KFROG 95.1 and ABC7 amplify the campaign, encouraging widespread participation and raising awareness about the program’s goals.
These partnerships have been integral in sustaining the drive’s impact over three decades.
The Spark of Love Holiday Toy Drive has been a cornerstone of holiday giving in Southern California for 32 years.
Its success reflects the collective effort of individuals, businesses, and non-profits working together to brighten the season for children who might otherwise go without.
