Sonim Technologies has announced the release of the Sonim XP Pro smartphone, which will be available from Friday, June 6, through AT&T.
According to Sonim Technologies, the new device is intended for use by first responders, enterprise professionals, and workers in hazardous environments.
The company stated that the XP Pro is certified as FirstNet Ready, enabling it to operate on the FirstNet network designed for emergency service use in the United States.
Sonim Technologies said the XP Pro includes multiple industrial-grade certifications for durability, including IPX9K, IP68, and MIL-STD-810H.
The XP Pro meets the requirements for FirstNet Ready certification, a designation that allows public safety personnel to use its features on the dedicated FirstNet communications platform.
According to Sonim Technologies, FirstNet is intended to help emergency responders maintain communications in complex or high-risk scenarios.
The manufacturer added that the XP Pro can function in harsh conditions such as industrial, maritime, or disaster response environments.
Sonim Technologies reported that the XP Pro is rated non-incendive for Class I, II, III, Division 2 conditions.
The company said it can withstand falls from 6.5 feet onto concrete, and immersion in water – including saltwater – at the same depth for up to an hour.
The phone is designed with dual 100+dB loudspeakers, echo and noise cancellation features, and a SecureAudio connector.
It also includes programmable buttons for functions like push-to-talk and emergency alerts.
Sonim Technologies explained that the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor and includes 8GB of RAM with 256GB storage, expandable up to 2TB.
The device supports fast charging with a 5000mAh battery and has compatibility with USB Type-C, vehicle chargers, and multi-bay stations.
The manufacturer highlighted its SonimWare suite, which includes tools for device configuration, security, and remote management for enterprises.
The XP Pro also features SonimScan, a lightweight barcode scanning alternative, and a Kiosk mode for task-specific operation.
