Honeywell has expanded its fire and life safety portfolio with new smoke control capabilities for its NOTIFIER INSPIRE platform and a range of cloud-connected life safety updates.
The company said the updates are designed to help customers move away from fragmented, manual fire safety processes toward a more connected life safety ecosystem that can simplify installation and commissioning, modernize compliance, and strengthen emergency response.
“With these innovations, we’re helping customers simplify complex designs, improve visibility across their systems and move beyond manual processes so they can better protect occupants, respond with greater confidence and operate more efficiently,” said Michael Troiano, president, global fire for Honeywell Building Automation.
Honeywell developed the latest NOTIFIER INSPIRE release with input from members of its customer advisory board. The release introduces fully integrated smoke control features intended to simplify installation and maintenance, make systems easier to adapt as building needs change, and reduce the need for additional hardware and complex custom programming.
According to Honeywell, the updated system uses a more unified architecture to streamline coordination across life safety functions and reduce system fragmentation. The company said the approach can help lower total system cost, accelerate deployment, support retrofits and upgrades using existing infrastructure, and improve maintenance and compliance through automated testing and centralized reporting.
“This generation of integrated smoke control fundamentally simplifies how these systems are designed and deployed, reducing complexity in the field, accelerating commissioning and making ongoing testing and compliance much more manageable,” said John Strohecker, vice president, Alarm and Detection for Cosco Fire Protection, a member of Honeywell’s customer advisory board. “Working with Honeywell on this innovation reflects a shared focus on delivering practical solutions that improve performance and safety for our customers.”
The system also includes a natively integrated purge function designed to respond automatically to carbon monoxide events. When a CO alarm is detected, the system exhausts contaminated air from the affected zone while introducing fresh air to reduce CO concentration levels. Honeywell said the controlled ventilation approach can help mitigate harmful exposure to occupants and complement fire-mode operation, where airflow is managed to contain smoke and limit oxygen to a potential fire.
Honeywell is also adding new capabilities to its Connected Life Safety Services platform and related solutions to improve visibility, coordination, and reliability across the fire safety lifecycle.
Zone Sync is designed to keep floor plans, device mapping, and alarm zones aligned across systems as buildings change over time. Honeywell said the feature provides operators and first responders with a more consistent and accurate source of information during an incident.
CLSS Rescue Assist supports occupants who may need additional assistance during emergencies while giving building teams and first responders real-time visibility during incidents. The company said this can enable faster response and clearer communication.
Honeywell also introduced USDD’s Phoenix G2 ATX Cellular Alerting, which adds redundant cellular communication to its first responder platform. The capability is intended to help critical dispatch notifications continue during network disruptions, improving reliability for emergency responders.
