Paraguay’s National Emergency Secretariat has held talks with the US Embassy to strengthen cooperation on disaster risk management and humanitarian response.
Minister Executive Secretary Colonel (Ret.) Arsenio Ramón Zárate met with N. Kumar Lakhavani, Regional Advisor for Disaster and Humanitarian Affairs at the US Embassy, to discuss opportunities for expanded collaboration.
Gabriela Frutos, disaster risk management specialist and project officer for Paraguay with the Regional Disaster Assistance Program, also took part in the meeting.
The discussions focused on identifying future joint actions, improving institutional capacity, and supporting emergency preparedness initiatives across Paraguay.
The meeting reinforced the shared commitment of Paraguay and the United States to coordinated disaster risk reduction, with an emphasis on protecting communities and strengthening national response capabilities.
