Ryan Fireprotection acquires Frontier Fire Protection in Minneapolis expansion

Ryan Fireprotection has acquired Frontier Fire Protection, expanding the family-owned contractor’s national network to 10 locations and establishing its presence in Minneapolis.

Indianapolis-based Ryan Fireprotection operated nine locations nationwide before the deal. Frontier was founded in Minneapolis in 2007 by Mike Olstad and has developed its business around customer relationships, quality craftsmanship and employee commitment.

Dan Ryan, chief executive officer of Ryan Fireprotection, said Frontier’s culture and operating model were central to the acquisition.

“Every company we welcome into the Ryan organization has its own story, its own culture, and its own people. That matters to us,” he said. “What stood out most about Frontier was what Mike built: a company large enough to handle the work but still small enough to care deeply about the people behind it.”

“Those values align directly with our own, and we are committed to protecting what makes Frontier special while creating new opportunities for their team.”

Olstad said the decision followed discussions about Ryan’s family ownership and people-first culture. “This was not a decision I made lightly. But when conversations with Ryan began, it became clear this was different,” he said. “We are not losing who we are; we are strengthening it.”

Frontier will continue serving its existing customers while gaining access to Ryan’s resources, broader service capabilities and career development opportunities. Kevin Ryan, president of Ryan Fireprotection, said Frontier’s emphasis on relationships and integrity made it a natural fit for the organization.
