The Rio de Janeiro State Military Fire Department (CBMERJ), in Brazil has held another edition of the selection process to form the team that will represent the Corporation in operational competitions.
The test, which assesses strength, endurance and speed, simulates real-life activities of firefighters, such as climbing ladders, carrying hoses, hoisting, forced entry, extinguishing fires and rescuing victims.
In this edition, 32 military personnel participated, 9 women and 23 men. The athletes’ performance in the selection is the main criterion for selection to the team, taking into account the category of each competitor.
From this group, those selected will compete in the World Games, from June 27 to July 6, 2025 and the next national event, scheduled for May 7 and 8, in Minas Gerais, will be defined.
The CBMERJ team has already accumulated victories in competitions throughout Brazil, including states such as Mato Grosso do Sul, Brasília, Minas Gerais, Tocantins and Paraíba. In addition, Rio’s firefighters won titles in three editions of the World Games, in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The selection processes are held annually and represent an opportunity for military personnel to demonstrate their technical and physical capabilities, as well as to reinforce their preparation for real challenges faced in daily service.
