The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro held a ceremony on Tuesday 3 March 2026, in the courtyard of the General Command Headquarters to deliver new operational vehicles that will reinforce the corporation’s performance throughout the state.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro and the Secretary of State for Civil Defense and General Commander of the CBMERJ, Colonel Tarciso Salles.
In total, the State Government acquired 60 ambulances, 3 motorhomes and 25 multi-mission vehicles, in an investment of nearly R$ 90 million.
16 ambulances and 2 motorhomes were delivered.
The remaining vehicles will be gradually incorporated into operational service, according to the corporation’s schedule.
Currently, the Rio de Janeiro State Fire Department has 1,667 vehicles, including trucks and pickups.
Of this total, 143 are dedicated to emergency rescue services.
The Secretary of State for Civil Defense and Commander of the Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Colonel Tarciso Salles explained: “This delivery is part of a structured plan to renew and expand our fleet.
“We are preparing the Fire Department for current and future challenges, with greater mobility and operational capacity.”
The new fleet arrives to strengthen operational coverage throughout the state through the “Firefighter 100%” project.
Expanding and improving pre-hospital care, reducing response times in emergency situations, modernizing available equipment and providing better working conditions for military firefighters.
The goal is to ensure greater efficiency in supporting the population and greater reach in responding to emergency demands.
The Governor commented: “We are strengthening one of the most respected institutions in the country, guaranteeing better working conditions for our firefighters and increasingly faster and more efficient service to the population.”
