The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) has launched a new online Resource Library designed to make health and safety information easier for fire fighters and emergency medical workers to find and use.
The publicly available library brings together nearly 300 IAFF-developed resources in one searchable location, including reports, guides, checklists, safety advisories, trainings, webinars, social media graphics, and other materials.
According to the IAFF, the tool is intended to put practical information directly into the hands of members seeking guidance on how to protect their health, improve safety practices, and serve their communities.
“The IAFF has a wealth of information available to help fire fighters and emergency medical workers make informed decisions about their health and safety, but those resources are only helpful if people can find and use them,” said Ryan Heffernan, Assistant to the General President for Communications. “Our new Resource Library puts that information in one place, so members can easily find what they’re looking for.”
Users can search the library by topic, including building and fire codes, nutrition and fitness, and occupational cancer, and can filter results by year, project type, and other categories. Featured resources are also highlighted on the library’s front page.
Newly developed health and safety resources will be added as they are released, helping members stay up to date on the latest guidance, research, and educational materials. While the library currently focuses on health and safety, the IAFF said it will expand later this year to include resources from across the union.
