The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) has added 35 new Rapid Response Vehicles to strengthen emergency response across the state.
The vehicles, known locally as Auto Rápido units, are designed to improve mobility for firefighters responding to incidents in urban areas, rural roads and locations with restricted access.
CBMERJ said the four-wheel-drive vehicles are prepared for a range of operational deployments, including firefighting, rescue work, civil defense operations and responses in hard-to-reach areas.
Each unit is equipped with portable fire extinguishers, an integrated communications radio, a winch, and a high-performance lighting and signaling system to support crews during emergency operations.
The new rapid response vehicles have also been prepared to receive pickup-style kits for forest fire response, allowing crews to support operations in areas of native vegetation.
The department said the additions are intended to reduce travel times, improve operational efficiency and expand emergency coverage for communities throughout Rio de Janeiro state.
