On December 20, 2024, Quito Mayor Pabel Muñoz, alongside Carolina Andrade, Secretary of Citizen Security and Risk Management, and Esteban Cárdenas, First Chief of the Quito Fire Department, inaugurated Fire Station No. 26 “El Pinar.”

Located in the La Concepción parish near Av. Mariscal Sucre, the station was developed following a feasibility study conducted in June 2024.

The study identified the need for increased emergency response coverage in the western Metropolitan District of Quito.

Construction and equipment investment

The new fire station spans 1,125.50 square meters and cost $757,000, including VAT.

It features facilities to support personnel health and occupational safety while providing comprehensive emergency services.

The station will serve over 80,000 people across 25 neighborhoods, extending from CC El Bosque to Atucucho and neighboring sectors.

It is equipped for structural and forest fire control, pre-hospital care, rescue operations, and other emergencies.

New firefighting vehicles introduced

In addition to the new station, the Quito Fire Department has acquired 19 firefighting vehicles at a cost of $6.8 million, including VAT.

These vehicles are designed for large-scale emergencies, each with a 1,700-gallon water capacity and modern technology for efficient fire suppression.

The vehicles will be distributed across 25 stations and are tailored to navigate Quito’s challenging topography, enhancing emergency response both within and beyond the city.

Commitment to emergency services

The delivery of Fire Station No. 26 and the new vehicles underscores Bomberos Quito’s commitment to providing efficient emergency services.
