The 7th Class of the Quito Metropolitan District Fire Department in Ecuador promoted 44 officers from second lieutenant to lieutenant.
In a ceremony held at the “Mayor Rodrigo Peñaherrera” Firefighter Training, Specialization and Professionalization Academy intended to serve as a moment of recognition of the officers commitment and dedication to service.
The event was attended by prominent city officials, including the President of the Metropolitan Commission for Citizen Security, Estefanía Grunauer; the Secretary General of Citizen Security and Risk Management, Carolina Andrade; the Chief of the Quito Metropolitan District Fire Department, Deputy Chief Esteban Cárdenas Varela; as well as metropolitan council members, guests and family members of the promoted officers.
During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the promotion process was carried out in strict compliance with the Organic Code of Citizen Security and Public Order Entities (COESCOP) and the internal regulations of the Quito Fire Department, regulations that guarantee processes based on professional merit and academic achievement.
Of the 44 officers promoted, 38 are men and six are women. They successfully completed all stages of the process, which included academic, doctrinal and technical evaluations, technical visits and the defense of research projects.
One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony was the traditional awarding of shovels by family members, which marked a symbolic milestone in each officer’s professional career.
A special distinction was also given to the officer who earned the first rank during the promotion process.
In their remarks, both the Commission President and the Secretary of Security highlighted the vital work of the Quito Fire Department in protecting the citizens of the Metropolitan District and reaffirmed their institutional support for strengthening the operational and professional capabilities of its workforce.
