PPG introduces protective coatings for data center fire protection

PPG announced a comprehensive range of protective coating solutions and application services for data center facilities at the Data Center World conference in Washington, D.C.

The company is acting as a single-source supplier for specialized coatings and application capabilities across interior and exterior data center infrastructure.

These precision-engineered solutions provide performance properties such as antistatic and fire resistance for equipment and components.

The portfolio includes passive fire protection and heat reflective performance to reduce cooling demand.

Juliane Hefel, PPG senior vice president, Industrial Coatings and Specialty Products said: “We are the only company in the industry that combines end-to-end protective coating solutions with in house application expertise.

“This helps our data center partners accelerate construction timelines and strengthen long-term operational efficiency, reliability and sustainability.”

Technical standards and application services

The showcased range includes pretreatment, electrocoat, liquid and powder coatings that comply with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards.

PPG also provides information regarding its coatings application services and custom paint line design.

The dissipative and conductive coating systems are designed to support high-speed data environments.

Additional performance properties include electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and dielectric resistance.

Amy Ericson, PPG senior vice president, Protective and Marine Coatings said: “As the data center industry accelerates, owners, construction firms and fabricators are placing greater value on partners who can deliver performance, reliability and productivity for high-speed data.

“Our portfolio combines all three, with comprehensive solutions for everything from the building envelope and HVAC to energy storage, flooring and power systems.”
