Polaris Government and Defense, a division of Polaris, has announced a new partnership with MTECH, Inc., to expand the capabilities of its RANGER utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) for fire and rescue operations.
As reported by Polaris Government and Defense, this collaboration aims to integrate QTAC® vehicle-based emergency response equipment and mobile fire skid systems into the Polaris RANGER lineup.
This enhancement will improve mobility and reduce response times in remote areas.
The newly integrated QTAC® fire and rescue skids from MTECH are specially designed for Polaris RANGER vehicles, featuring manufacturer-validated mounting systems.
The Government and Defense team at Polaris has engineered, validated, and integrated these skids on select models, including the RANGER XP 1000, RANGER XD 1500, and the all-electric RANGER XP Kinetic.
These enhancements include a self-leveling suspension, an electric box lift, and the integration of emergency lighting and custom graphics.
QTAC® skids are constructed using PolyTough®, a lightweight and durable material capable of withstanding extreme temperatures.
These skids offer a 75-gallon water capacity and are equipped with Waterax Versax 6 or 9-horsepower pumps for optimal performance.
Additionally, the skids come with a fully integrated rescue skid option, and each configuration can be mounted on the RANGER XP 1000, RANGER XD 1500, and RANGER XP Kinetic models.
Shane Novotny, director of engineering for Polaris Government and Defense, said: “Adding QTAC equipment offerings to our accessory line-up provides customers with affordable yet highly capable skids for Polaris fire and rescue vehicles.
“These new QTAC options will enable fire and emergency teams to respond with confidence – when it matters most – knowing they’ll have reliable tools to get the job done.”
Polaris offers various vehicle packages with QTAC skids to cater to different fire and rescue needs.
The Firefighting Skid is designed for small to large-scale fire suppression, including prescribed burns and grass fires.
It features additional options such as a 2.5-gallon foam capacity, a draft hose kit, an electric hose reel option, and a 9-horsepower version with electric start.
The Fire & Rescue Skid includes a convertible rescue litter platform, making it suitable for both fire suppression and remote rescue operations.
It can also be equipped with optional features similar to the firefighting skid.
The Extreme Duty Fire & Rescue package includes a RANGER XD 1500 CREW NorthStar Premium UTV, deluxe emergency light kit, and other enhancements for high-demand scenarios.
For off-road rescue operations, Polaris offers the Off-Road Rescue package with the RANGER XP 1000 CREW Premium, equipped with the Rescue Skid and comprehensive emergency lighting systems.
The Electric Off-Road Rescue package caters to those seeking an electric vehicle option, featuring the RANGER XP Kinetic Premium UTV with the Rescue Skid and an array of emergency response features.
These packages are designed to improve mobility, durability, and performance in challenging off-road environments.
Polaris aims to provide customized, turn-key solutions for fire and rescue operations with these new offerings.
