Patrick Morrison honored with fire service leadership award

The Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI) and Motorola Solutions have named Patrick Morrison as the winner of the 2024 CFSI/Motorola Solutions Mason Lankford Fire Service Leadership Award.

This prestigious accolade will be bestowed upon Morrison during the 34th Annual National Fire and Emergency Services Dinner scheduled for April 29.

Morrison, who is currently the Chief of Field Services at the International Association of Fire Fighters, began his distinguished career in 1982 with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.

His enduring commitment to the health and wellness of firefighters and emergency medical personnel has been a hallmark of his career.

Among his notable achievements is the founding of the Fairfax County Public Safety Occupation Health Center in 1997, which offers comprehensive health services to firefighters and law enforcement personnel.

Additionally, Morrison has been instrumental in the IAFF/IAFC Fire Service Joint Labor-Management Wellness/Fitness Initiative and has spearheaded the development of programs addressing behavioral health challenges faced by firefighters.

A dedication to firefighter health and safety

CFSI President Jim Estepp praised Morrison’s contributions: “Pat Morrison was cut out of the same cloth as Mason Lankford and the previous recipients of this award.

His work has profoundly impacted all firefighters, bringing greater awareness to the health and safety risks associated with the job while reducing these risks to make a dangerous job safer for all firefighters.
