The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is developing a series of firefighter testimonial videos focused on mental health.
The NVFC said the videos are intended to raise awareness in the fire service about mental and emotional challenges firefighters face.
The NVFC is seeking volunteer firefighters who have experienced mental health challenges related to service, including stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, or burnout.
It is also seeking volunteer firefighters who have lost a member of their department to mental health related struggles.
The NVFC is also seeking volunteer firefighters who used their own experience, or the experience of a fellow firefighter, to create change within their department to better support mental health.
Interested volunteer firefighters are asked to fill out a form by March 12.
After the submission deadline, the NVFC will conduct 10 minute Zoom interviews with people whose stories it believes will speak to its audience.
The NVFC said it is seeking a diverse range of voices for the testimonials.
If selected, participants will meet with a film crew at an agreed upon location for a half day to full day video shoot.
The NVFC said the video shoot will take place in early April.
If travel is required, the NVFC said it will be covered.
The NVFC said departments that might be open to having their station used as a filming location should note that in the form.
