North Las Vegas Fire Department welcome new firefighters

The North Las Vegas Fire Department has celebrated the graduation of 11 new firefighters on 4 September during a ceremony for Fire Recruit Academy class 2025-1.

In the ceremony, each recruit had their badge pinned by a family member before participating in a group swearing-in ceremony.

The recruits, who range in age from 19 to 31, completed 20 weeks of training and will now serve as probationary firefighters at one of the city’s nine fire stations.

The class includes ten men and one woman, bringing diverse experience from the US Marine Corps, US Army, and various public safety roles, such as private EMS, ambulance operations and wildland firefighting.

Fire Chief, North Las Vegas Fire Department, Joseph Calhoun’s statement

Fire Chief Joseph Calhoun shared: “I am thrilled to welcome our next generation of firefighters to the North Las Vegas Fire family and commend their commitment to protecting and serving the city’s residents and businesses.

“The knowledge and skills they have gained over the last 20 weeks are just the beginning, as they continue to hone their craft to best meet the needs of our community.

“Their hard work and passion for service are what drive us forward.”
