The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has announced the North Carolina Electrical Inspector Association (NCEIA) as the first Electrical Inspection Section (EIS) Affiliate Chapter.
As reported by the NFPA, the NCEIA will serve as a key resource for the state’s electrical inspection community by offering training, education, and networking opportunities.
Tim McClintock, NFPA regional electrical specialist, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership: “NFPA is pleased to welcome its first EIS Affiliate Chapter.”
McClintock highlighted the collaboration’s goal to address electrical challenges and enhance community safety through unified efforts.
He added: “We look forward to adding many other chapters in the future.”
A robust electrical inspection program is critical for ensuring safety and compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other regulations.
McClintock emphasized: “A strong electrical inspection program plays a vital role in safety and compliance with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code and other codes, helping safeguard people and property from electrical-related hazards.”
The NFPA EIS Affiliate Chapter will support electrical inspection professionals by providing resources and training tailored to their needs.
This initiative also aims to preserve the independent voices of those involved in electrical inspections.
Members of an NFPA EIS Affiliate Chapter, such as the NCEIA, may qualify for the NFPA Electrical Inspection Membership.
This membership includes automatic enrollment in the NFPA Electrical Inspection Section, which offers various benefits.
These benefits encompass participation in the code development process, access to special programming and products, and training on code changes.
Tony Benton, president of the NCEIA, stated: “The North Carolina electrical inspection community is pleased to be working closely with NFPA to meet today’s electrical safety challenges head-on, help expand our impact, and position the chapter for the future.”
