The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has appointed Vishal Kashyap as regional manager for India, a role focused on strengthening the organization’s engagement across the country’s fire, electrical and life safety sectors.
Kashyap will represent NFPA in India and collaborate with regulatory authorities, fire service leaders, industry associations and businesses to assess local safety needs and identify where NFPA expertise and resources can have the greatest impact.
Mike Brunzell, vice president of Global Business Development at NFPA, said India is “a country of enormous importance to the advancement of fire and life safety.”
“We are pleased to welcome Vishal to our regional team,” Brunzell said. “His technical expertise, experience as an educator, and understanding of how safety decisions are made on the ground will help us establish the right foundation for a meaningful and lasting presence in India.”
Kashyap brings more than 20 years of experience in engineering, fire and life safety, education and organizational leadership across India and the Middle East. He previously served as head of engineering for SIBCA in Abu Dhabi, leading a multidisciplinary team of more than 130 engineering professionals working across fire, security and built-environment systems.
He was named a National Geographic Channel Innovator of the Year in 2004 for engineering innovation.
Kashyap is also an NFPA-approved training instructor within the organization’s Authorized Education Network. He is pursuing doctoral research in civil engineering with a focus on fire safety at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. He holds an MBA in engineering management from Abertay University in the United Kingdom and a bachelor’s degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering from Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University in India.

Kashyap began his new role on July 29 and is based in India.
