The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is marking International Firefighters’ Day with its annual Giving Day campaign, encouraging supporters across the United States to contribute to programs supporting families of fallen firefighters and firefighter safety initiatives.

The campaign, held May 4, includes a dollar-for-dollar donation match from the Presto Foundation of up to $25,000, according to the organization. NFFF said the matching funds are intended to increase support for its family assistance and line-of-duty death prevention programs.

“Every gift given during NFFF’s Giving Day helps us honor the fallen, care for their families, and strengthen the safety of those still serving,” said National Fallen Firefighters Foundation CEO Victor Stagnaro. “Thanks to the generosity of our partner, the Presto Foundation, every donation goes twice as far, bringing comfort to families and advancing our efforts to prevent future tragedies.”

NFFF campaign to fund scholarship opportunities

According to the foundation, donations raised through the campaign will help fund scholarship opportunities for family members of fallen firefighters, grief counseling services for spouses and children, and bereavement support programs such as Hal Bruno Kids Camp.

Funds will also support firefighter training materials aimed at reducing line-of-duty deaths and injuries.

The organization said supporters can participate by making direct donations, creating peer fundraising campaigns, or sharing information about the initiative on social media using the hashtag #NFFFGivingDay.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations are tax-deductible under U.S. law.

More information about the campaign is available through the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
