New recruits at the National Fire Department in Uruguay

The National Fire Department of Uruguay has announced that it is strengthening its presence with the addition of a new group of 135 students who will begin their training to serve the community at the National Police Education Directorate.

135 new students

The National Fire Department stated that their will be 135 new students, which marks a significant increase compared to previous intakes- which typically did not exceed 50 students.

The group is made up of 42 citizens from the metropolitan area and 93 from the rest of the country, reflecting the institution’s commitment to decentralization in the selection and training processes, covering the entire country.

The students reported to the Centenario Fire Station on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., beginning their specialization as firefighters serving the community.

Features of the training process

The training process includes both theoretical and practical instruction. In the first phase, students will receive instruction in basic introductory subjects to the firefighting profession, legislation, materials nomenclature, and physical conditioning.

In the second phase, they will focus on practical specialized workshops in various areas, such as structural and forest firefighting, vehicle rescue maneuvers and height rescue, among others.

Additionally, a percentage of these students will specialize in driving, with the goal of addressing a fundamental need of the institution that will optimize its emergency response service.
