The Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) has announced the creation of the Christopher M. Fowler Award for International Cooperation.
This new award is part of AMPP’s prestigious awards program, with nominations opening on July 1, aligning with the annual award nomination period.
This award is named in honor of Dr. Christopher M. Fowler, a past president of NACE International (now AMPP) and a long-standing member of the organization since 1989.
Dr. Fowler has significantly contributed to the European Region of NACE, serving as International Director on the NACE Board of Directors from 2003 to 2007.
He also played key roles in various symposia and technical committees and was the European Coordinator and UK Executor for the IMPACT study, which examined the costs and prevention strategies for corrosion on a global scale.
The Christopher M. Fowler Award for International Cooperation is designed to recognize AMPP members who have shown exceptional service and leadership in promoting the organization’s activities and goals internationally.
This includes efforts in political and business engagement, organizing international conferences, starting new chapters, and building successful collaborations with other organizations worldwide.
Tim Fest, CAE, AMPP’s director of global membership experience, emphasized the inclusiveness of the nomination process: “We’ve made our nomination process as simple as possible, ensuring that it’s easy for all our members to participate.
“Our goal is to receive a diverse range of submissions that truly reflect the international spirit of cooperation that this award celebrates.”
To be eligible for the award, nominees must be active AMPP members and have made notable contributions to the organization’s visibility and activities across borders.
Contributions can include organizing new courses, training, or learning opportunities in line with AMPP’s mission.
Self-nominations and posthumous nominations are not accepted, and current AMPP Board or Awards Committee members are ineligible.
Nominations for the Christopher M. Fowler Award can be submitted by individuals, organizations, or companies, with specific restrictions detailed on the AMPP website.
All nominations must follow the detailed guidelines provided.
This new award underscores AMPP’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and recognizing members who significantly advance its mission on a global scale.
