The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) will host its annual NVFC Training Summit on June 20-21, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The organization has announced a call for proposals from qualified instructors and speakers who wish to present on critical issues impacting fire and emergency services.
Proposals, which can be submitted here, are due by October 20, 2024.
The summit will focus on the theme “Prepare. Protect. Inspire.”, which aligns with three key training tracks: recruitment and retention, health and safety, and leadership.
Presentations will be 90 minutes long, addressing various topics, including but not limited to training effectiveness, fireground response, health and safety, and diversity.
The NVFC invites proposals from individuals with diverse experiences to help educate and engage attendees at the summit.
The proposal submission deadline is October 20, 2024, and selections will be made through a peer review process.
The review team will evaluate proposals based on their quality, relevance, and practical application, as well as the presenter’s credentials.
According to the NVFC, the review process will conclude on November 22, 2024, with selected presenters being notified on that date.
Presenters will receive travel expenses and a stipend, though only one instructor per course will be eligible for reimbursement.
To assist potential presenters, the NVFC will hold virtual drop-in Q&A sessions on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 12:00-12:30 PM ET, and Monday, October 14, 2024, from 3:00-3:30 PM ET.
These sessions will provide guidance on the proposal process and answer any questions about the submission guidelines.
The NVFC’s Call for Presentations Guide provides additional topic examples and tips for writing successful proposals.
Presenters are encouraged to review these materials before submitting their proposals.
Presentations are expected to cover a wide range of topics relevant to fire and emergency services.
Key areas include fireground response, physical and behavioral health, fire and life safety education, diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as recruitment and retention strategies.
Other relevant subjects may include mentorship, intergenerational work, and funding strategies for fire services.
The NVFC encourages a broad range of proposals that share innovative approaches and best practices for improving the fire and emergency service industry.
All sessions must be educational in nature and aim to offer practical knowledge to first responders.
