The National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) is accepting nominations for three annual awards: the Chief James P. Seavey Sr. Health and Wellness Leadership Award, Junior Firefighter of the Year, and Junior Firefighter Program of the Year.
According to NVFC, the submission deadline is 5 p.m. EST on January 17, 2025.
The awards recognize exceptional contributions to fire departments and junior firefighter programs.
Recipients of the Health and Wellness Leadership Award and Junior Firefighter of the Year will receive a trip for themselves and a guest to the NVFC awards celebration on May 9, 2025, in Alexandria, Virginia.
The Junior Firefighter Program of the Year will be recognized at a local presentation, allowing all program members to participate.
The Chief James P. Seavey Sr. Health and Wellness Leadership Award recognizes active volunteer firefighters, EMS providers, or rescue workers who lead efforts in emergency responder health and wellness.
The award is co-sponsored by VFIS and Ward Diesel Filter Systems.
It highlights programs or initiatives aimed at improving the physical and mental well-being of emergency responders.
The NVFC encourages departments to nominate individuals who have demonstrated leadership in promoting health-focused programs or activities within their organizations.
The Junior Firefighter of the Year award recognizes a junior firefighter who has exceeded expectations in their service to their department.
This award is sponsored by California Casualty.
Additionally, the Junior Firefighter Program of the Year award, also sponsored by California Casualty, acknowledges programs or Explorer Posts that have made a measurable community impact through innovative and creative approaches.
Both awards aim to showcase the dedication and influence of junior firefighters and their programs within their communities.
To participate, nominators must complete the criteria listed on the NVFC website.
The organization encourages submissions from all departments with eligible members or programs.
