National Firefighters of Colombia approve 2026 investment project

The National Board of Firefighters of Colombia approved strategic decisions for the strengthening of the public fire service in the country.

The National Board was chaired by the Deputy Minister General of the Ministry of the Interior, Jaime Berdugo and with the participation of Captain Lina María Marín Rodríguez, Director of the National Directorate of Firefighters of Colombia.

During the session, the Board approved the 2026 Investment Project, aimed at strengthening the response capacity of fire departments and ensuring efficient and safe service throughout the country.

This project integrates knowledge management and risk reduction processes to optimize operations and improve emergency response in Colombia.

Furthermore, the submission to the Ministry of the Interior of a request to amend Decree 527 of 2013, which regulates the National Firefighters Fund (FNB), was approved.

Likewise, the initiation of the process to update, unify and optimize the Administrative, Operational, Technical and Academic Regulations was authorized, with the aim of standardizing processes and strengthening the quality of public fire service.

In this session, the National Board, the highest decision-making body regarding the resources of the National Firefighters Fund (FNB), evaluated and approved key points for the operational and administrative development of the fire service system, including:

  • FNB 2025 Budget Execution Report
  • Internal budget reallocations of the 2025 Investment Project
  • DNBC Management Report
  • Approval of the resources of the National Firefighters Fund for the year 2026
  • Modification of Decree 527 of 2013 and analysis of technical updates to the Administrative, Operational, Technical and Academic Regulations

Coordinated work between the board members

In this regard, the National Board highlighted the importance of the coordinated work between each of the board members, the private sector such as Fasecolda, as well as the delegates of official, volunteer and aeronautical Fire Departments of the country.

Which reflects a joint integration and cooperation that contributes to the institutional and operational strengthening of the public fire service.

Finally, the National Firefighters Board of Colombia highlighted the leadership of the National Fire Director, emphasizing her commitment to strengthening and dignifying the work of firefighters.

Her management has been fundamental in promoting inter-institutional coordination and fostering operational and administrative improvements for the benefit of the country’s fire departments.
