National Fire Department Colombia strengthens operational capacity in Catatumbo

Within the framework of the institutional strengthening strategy led by the National Fire Department of Colombia, the Captain in Chief, Lourdes Peña del Valle, visited the Fire Department of Cúcuta, Norte de Santander.

This visit was designed to reaffirm the commitment of the National Government to the country’s firefighters, especially in the most remote regions.

During the day, attention and response kits were also delivered to the fire departments of Ocaña, Tibú, Ábrego and Sardinata, which are composed of MARK 3 fire pumps, tanks, accessories and 12 sections of hoses per team.

The institutional presence in Catatumbo reflects the articulated work between the Government of President Gustavo Petro Urrego and the National Directorate of Firefighters of Colombia, in the commitment to close gaps, dignify firefighting work and strengthen emergency response systems throughout the national territory.

Captain in Chief Lourdes Peña del Valle shared: “We continue to work so that each firefighter has the necessary tools to save lives and protect our territories. This is one more step towards a safer, more equipped and prepared nation.”

The National Fire Department has also announced its plans to continue to tour the regions of the country, promoting concrete actions to improve the technical and operational capacity of fire departments and guaranteeing an effective response to emergencies.
