MSA introduces new head protection solutions at NSC 2024

MSA Safety, Inc. presented its latest safety innovations at the recently concluded 2024 National Safety Congress & Expo (NSC), held in Orlando, Florida, from September 16 to 18, 2024.

The event showcased a wide range of safety solutions, including a new safety helmet and advanced shared alert technology for portable gas detection.

Highlighted among MSA’s head protection solutions was the new V-Gard H2™ Safety Helmet.

This helmet, which meets ANSI Type II certification, includes a 4-point chinstrap designed to enhance protection against lateral impacts.

The helmet is also compatible with various V-Gard accessories and features the Mips® brain protection system, which helps reduce rotational motion and provides additional protection from brain injuries.

Advanced gas detection with MSA Grid Shared Alerts

At NSC 2024, MSA Safety debuted MSA Grid Shared Alerts, an innovation that enhances the MSA Connected Work Platform.

Shared Alerts provide instant notifications via the ALTAIR io™ 4 Gas Detection Wearable and MSA Grid, alerting workers when a nearby team member triggers a gas, motion, or emergency alarm.

This platform’s cloud-based connectivity allows real-time visibility into worker safety conditions, improving response times during emergency situations.

Stephanie Sciullo, President of MSA Americas, said: “Our expertise and extensive portfolio offer versatility and extensive customization options to help our customers keep their workers safe.”

Enhancing safety with connected technologies

MSA Safety’s Connected Work Platform offers comprehensive data analytics that support compliance and device management, along with a full suite of connected safety features.

The ALTAIR io™ 4 gas detector, central to the platform, provides real-time insights and cloud-based monitoring, enhancing safety across worksites.

As part of the event, MSA hosted a session at the NSC Learning Lab titled “The Benefits of Connected Gas Detection: Visibility, Compliance, and Accountability.”

This session, held on September 17, was led by MSA Safety Connected Services and Solutions Manager Anne Osbourn and Product Platform Director Chris Borneo.

The discussion focused on how connected safety programs can improve worker and site awareness, helping to reduce risks and increase operational efficiency.

Respiratory protection and other showcased solutions

In addition to head and gas detection protection, MSA Safety featured a broad range of respiratory protection, fall protection, and portable gas detection solutions at NSC 2024.

A key highlight was MSA’s introduction of optrel® Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRs), for which MSA is the exclusive North American distributor.

NSC attendees had the opportunity to learn more about these safety innovations at MSA’s booth during the event.

For ongoing updates, MSA continues to provide information through its website and social media platforms.
