Minas Gerais Military Fire Department marks graduation of 30 senior officers

The Military Fire Department of Minas Gerais (CBMMG) recently celebrated the graduation of 30 senior officers from the Public Policy Management Course (CGEPP 2024).

The event took place on November 22 at the Minas Gerais Military Officers Club in Belo Horizonte.

Presided over by CBMMG General Commander Colonel Erlon Dias do Nascimento Botelho, the ceremony featured remarks from Judge Rogério Medeiros of the TJMG and other high-ranking civil and military officials.

Colonel Erlon highlighted the importance of strategic management and compassionate leadership during his speech: “Being a strategic manager is not just about having technical knowledge, but also about being a compassionate leader, an effective communicator and a public servant dedicated to the well-being of society.”

The CGEPP program details and objectives

The CGEPP program, a postgraduate-level specialization, prepares senior officers for leadership roles in the Military Fire Department.

Conducted over nine months, the semi-presential course includes 360 class hours.

It emphasizes multisectoral public policies, leadership, planning, and data management, equipping officers to address diverse operational and managerial challenges.

The officers also exchanged knowledge with government bodies and agencies during the in-person sessions.

Key participants and messages at the ceremony

State Deputy Tadeu Leite, the class’s patron, commended the graduates via a video message due to his absence.

He stated: “This course goes beyond a diploma, as students were trained to make decisions that will impact the lives of millions in Minas Gerais.”

Major Relson Miguel de Macedo, the class speaker, expressed gratitude to instructors, staff, and families.

He encouraged his colleagues to make meaningful contributions in their personal and professional roles: “Let our words and actions be an expression of love and care for the people and actions entrusted to us.”

Graduates’ pathway to higher leadership

The graduates, including 12 lieutenant colonels and 18 majors, are now qualified to aim for the highest ranks within the CBMMG.

This course is the final specialization step following their foundational Officer Training and the Civil Defense Management Course.

It is designed to prepare them for leadership roles addressing public safety and civil protection in Minas Gerais.
