Michael Baker International’s strategic investment

Michael Baker International, a global engineering, planning, and consulting services firm, announced a strategic investment in Infinity MEP+S Consultants, based in Houston, Texas.

Infinity MEP+S specializes in mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), structural, fire protection, and technology design.

This investment aligns with Michael Baker’s Sustainable and Resilient Solutions (SRS) vertical and the Akela Engineering and Consulting team.

The integration of Infinity MEP+S aims to expand Michael Baker’s reach in energy, life sciences, higher education, and distributed energy resource design spaces.

Brian A. Lutes, Chief Executive Officer at Michael Baker International, stated: “Infinity MEP+S brings additional talent, creativity, and a complementary growth mindset to our already robust MEP and technology offering.”

Expansion into new markets

This investment will extend Michael Baker’s geographic footprint in Texas, Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates.

Infinity MEP+S is well-positioned in sectors such as healthcare, commercial science and technology, oil and gas, manufacturing, high-rise residential, and retail.

The firm’s use of advanced 3D design systems allows for cost-effective and coordinated designs, ensuring smoother construction processes.

David Sinz, President of Infinity MEP+S, said: “Our strategy is to control and coordinate all aspects of the engineering design for projects.

“We believe this supports a more coordinated, cohesive design and offers a single point of contact for our clients.”

Detailed project portfolios

Infinity MEP+S has a diverse portfolio that includes high-profile projects.

For example, they provided MEP, fire & safety, security & technology, and acoustical design for the 17-story, 860,000 square foot ultraluxe Oceano residential tower in Dubai, UAE.

The firm is also involved in the construction administration phase to ensure successful project completion.

In another notable project, Infinity MEP+S handled MEP design for the $120-million Gulf Coast Growth Ventures campus, a joint project by ExxonMobil and SABIC.

This campus serves as an administrative and control facility with 24/7 operational capability and is equipped with advanced systems meeting LEED Certification standards.

Future growth strategy

The unified Michael Baker SRS vertical, Akela team, and Infinity MEP+S organization are focused on aggressive growth.

They plan to expand geographically into southeastern and southwestern United States and additional cities throughout the U.S. and Middle East.

The broad range of services offered positions the organization to serve both current and prospective clients effectively.
