Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s (MDFR) Urban Search and Rescue Team, Florida Task Force One (FL-TF1), has been activated in response to flooding impacting communities in need of immediate assistance in Texas.
A trained seven-member team has been deployed, including two canine search teams and support personnel, to assist in the ongoing search operations.
In a statement, MDFR commented: “Miami-Dade is proud to have some of the most skilled and compassionate first responders in the world and once again, they are going above and beyond answering the call to serve.
“Florida Task Force One represents the very best of our community, rushing into crisis with heart and determination in order to save lives.
“Miami-Dade County stands with the people of Texas and all those impacted by these devastating floods and we will continue to do everything possible to offer critical support and help find survivors.”
The canine teams, made up of two search specialists and their canines, will work alongside local authorities to help locate individuals still unaccounted for in affected areas.
These teams bring expertise in navigating disaster environments with urgency, technical skill and the compassion needed during these difficult situations.
