Marine Fire Safety has formalized an agreement with Associated British Ports (ABP) to implement its Workboat 123 package across vessels operating in Wales and Southampton.
As reported by Marine Fire Safety, Workboat 123 was introduced in 2022 as a streamlined approach to managing safety equipment for vessels.
The package consolidates sales, service, and hire needs into a three-year agreement, covering all lifesaving equipment such as liferafts, lifejackets, and immersion suits, as well as firefighting systems.
Mark Bresnahan, Managing Director at Marine Fire Safety, stated: “Working with ABP and getting their equipment and liferaft exchanges in line with their fixed fire system will make a positive difference to the day-to-day running of their vessels.”
The adoption of Workboat 123 by ABP aims to address logistical challenges and maintenance costs associated with safety equipment.
Mark Bresnahan highlighted the value of the package, noting that Workboat 123 helps reduce time spent managing maintenance schedules while offering a cost-efficient solution.
He added: “Workboat 123 removes the hassle away from our customers by offering a cost-effective fire and safety solution, to cut logistical costs and save time in port.”
The agreement ensures that critical equipment, including firefighting systems and lifesaving appliances (LSA), is serviced and replaced within the set timeframe, helping vessels stay compliant with safety regulations.
ABP’s Marine Asset Manager (South), Dan Brown, emphasized the operational advantages of the collaboration.
“For ABP, adopting Workboat 123 means we can further reduce downtime and ensure our vessels remain compliant with the required critical safety inspections and LSA equipment is replaced in a timely fashion,” said Brown.
He also noted the benefits of continuing their proactive relationship with Marine Fire Safety.
The Workboat 123 agreement reflects a growing focus on enhancing safety and efficiency in maritime operations.
By consolidating safety equipment requirements into a single package, Marine Fire Safety and ABP aim to simplify operational logistics while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
This partnership underscores the importance of aligning equipment servicing with operational needs to optimize vessel readiness and safety compliance.
