The Military Fire Department in Mariana now have a new facility, the headquarters offer better working conditions for military firefighters and improves the Department’s service to the community of Mariana.
Their new premises previously housed the Public Prosecutor’s Office and this move was possible because of negotiations between the Fire Department, the Secretariat of Planning and Management and the Public Prosecutor’s Office. They also obtained the commitment of Mayor Celso Cota Neto to carry out the necessary renovations to adapt the property to the demands of the corporation.
The unit was initially installed at the Mariana Arena on May 29, 2018, with the aim of ensuring greater safety and quality in the service to the local population. Since then, military firefighters have acted in several urgent and emergency occurrences, preventive actions against fires and panic, as well as disaster risk management activities. During this period, about ten thousand occurrences were attended by the unit.
In addition to improving working conditions, the new space provides a more suitable environment for the performance of the corporation’s functions, reflecting the commitment to the safety and well-being of the population.
