On September 22, 2023, at the Cecil R. Gehr Memorial Combat Training Center in East Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Fire Department celebrated the graduation of 36 recruits from Recruit Class 170.
This event marked their successful completion of the 17-week LACoFD Firefighter Training Academy.
Family and friends came together to witness the special occasion, alongside Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone, the Executive team, and the Recruit Training Cadre.
During the ceremony, members of Recruit Class 170 were awarded their official firefighter badges from the department.
Taking a solemn oath, they committed themselves to serving the residents and communities entrusted to their care.
Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone addressed the new graduates: “I am confident you will stay dedicated to your career and prideful in your service to others…you are more than a firefighter on any given shift.”
The next day, the members of Recruit Class 170 embarked on their first assignments as probationary firefighters.
