This led Anna and her husband, John, to explore campus security in depth, where they discovered a lack of effective solutions and significant flaws in current policies.
Motivated by the urgent need to improve security in schools and public spaces, our family, with a strong commitment to safety, set out to create a solution that could endure substantial force and provide peace of mind.

Our primary objective was to enable anyone in a classroom to lock down within seconds.
With 2,500 lbs of force resistance, quick activation, and one-motion egress, Flip Lok specifically addresses the need for enhanced protection against intrusions in schools, ensuring safety without compromising accessibility.
During our research, we discovered that almost no existing solutions met these standards.
Therefore, we collaborated closely with the Harris County Fire Department in Texas (the 4th largest in the country) to ensure that Flip Lok complied with all codes required for school buildings.
We rigorously tested and adapted Flip Lok to meet both fire and ADA compliance standards.
This ensures that, while providing superior security, Flip Lok also allows for quick and safe egress in emergencies, meeting all necessary fire safety requirements.
Over the past three years, we have continuously prototyped, tested, and refined Flip Lok.
Balancing high security with fire safety codes was challenging, but we overcame this by engineering Flip Lok to connect seamlessly to existing door handles, enabling swift one-motion egress when an individual pulls the handle.
