Denver campus marks graduation milestone

Lincoln Educational Services Corporation has announced the first class of graduates from its Johnson Controls International (JCI) Academy at the Denver, Colorado campus.

The program, designed to prepare entry-level technicians for careers in security and fire alarm systems, celebrated eight graduates during a ceremony on November 15th.

This event also marked the official ribbon-cutting for the JCI Academy classroom at the Denver location.

The JCI Academy program, launched in partnership with Lincoln Tech in 2018, has seen over 500 students nationwide transition into careers with Johnson Controls.

Graduates from the Denver campus are set to join JCI branches in seven states, including Alaska, Illinois, and Texas.

Nationwide career pathways through partnership

The JCI Academy provides six weeks of intensive, hands-on training, focusing on skills such as installation, troubleshooting, and repair of building system technologies.

On-site housing during training and relocation support are covered by Johnson Controls, ensuring participants have access to career pathways without financial barriers.

Lincoln Tech’s President and CEO, Scott Shaw, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “Our partnership with Johnson Controls enables us to broaden our training programs, providing graduates with hands-on experience and direct pathways to careers that align with market needs.”

Equipping the future workforce

Graduates from the Denver cohort include current JCI employees and alumni of Lincoln Tech programs, such as Marcus Biart, who will begin his role in Fort Worth, Texas.

Biart praised the program’s opportunities: “JCI’s instructors were willing to teach me, and I was eager to learn.

Thank you for giving a young man like me a chance.”

Johnson Controls’ VP of Human Resources, Mike Schade, emphasized the broader vision: “At Johnson Controls, we not only want great technicians; we want to help build the trades for our economy and our country.”

Addressing labor shortages in skilled trades

The U.S. Department of Labor projects over 800,000 electrician and electronic systems technician roles will open by 2033.

Programs like the JCI Academy aim to address this demand by preparing a workforce with targeted technical expertise.

Since 2018, Johnson Controls has worked with Lincoln Tech and other initiatives to equip students with the skills needed for modern, sustainable building systems.

This collaboration includes partnerships with community colleges, STEM initiatives, and advanced HVAC learning labs to develop a pipeline of skilled talent.
