Los Angeles Lakers newcomer Luka Dončić has announced that his foundation would donate $500,000 to recovery efforts after the Palisades and Eaton fires impacted the area last month.
In addition to the $500,000 for immediate recovery efforts, Dončić said he was also committed to helping rebuild courts, playgrounds and fields destroyed by the blazes.
The Lakers acquired Slovenian born Dončić recently from the Dallas Mavericks in a trade for Anthony Davis and Max Christie.
Dončić was in the starting lineup for his debut with the Lakers against the Utah Jazz.

In a statement posted on the Luka Dončić Foundation’s Instagram account, Dončić said: “It’s been so sad to see and learn more about the damage from the wildfires since I landed in LA.
“To everyone affected by these fires: we’re here to help, now and for the long haul.”
