The County of Los Angeles Fire Department‘s (LACoFD’s) canine teams were activated for deployment on Tuesday 8 July by The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal EOS) to assist in the aftermath of flooding impacting central Texas.
Fire Captain Celina Serrano and K9 Prentiss, Fire Firefighter Paramedic Jonathan Munguia and K9 Clifford, along with Search Team Manager Fire Captain Michael Devine left for a 14-day deployment on Wednesday 9 July, to lend their assistance in the ongoing search and recovery efforts in central Texas.
The LACoFD joins USAR team members deployed from Riverside City, Menlo Park, Orange County Fire Department and Oakland City.
Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone shared: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of central Texas.”
The LACoFD said in a statement: “We are grateful to California Governor Gavin Newsom and Cal OES for deploying our LACoFD canine teams to assist in the search and recovery efforts.”
